The 2021 International Building Code increased the maximum height of mass timber structures to 18 stories fueling the growing interest in this type of construction. Several states, including Washington, Oregon, California, and Utah, have already adopted the new International Building Code (IBC) height allowances.
Additional jurisdictions are expected to follow suit, creating a new type of tall mass timber residential buildings that will rise across America’s urban landscape.
