BACK TO PROJECTS

A partnership with BIAHawaii yields a training curriculum that sets the State on a path toward green building success

  • Green building fundamentals for pre-apprentices and apprentices
  • Green building practices for general contractors
  • Technical modules for journey workers with in-depth information on trade-specific green building techniques
  • Working with a Technical Advisory Committee and focus groups to identify green building needs and existing resources in the trades

In partnership with BIAHawaii the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Hawai’i, O’Brien360 developed a green building training curriculum for the State. The content includes green building fundamentals for pre-apprentices and apprentices, green building practices for general contractors, and journey worker technical modules with in-depth information on trade-specific green building techniques.

To make sure work products were technically accurate and responsive to current building industry conditions in Hawai’i, O’Brien360 worked with a Technical Advisory Committee and several focus groups to identify green building needs and existing resources in the trades.

The final product was a set of flexible teaching materials, including videos, activities and lesson plans to be used by construction academies, colleges, unions and other trade and educational organizations to train people in Hawaii on how to build cutting-edge green buildings.
