The nation’s largest university for natural health, arts and sciences earned LEED Platinum® for its on-campus student residence

  • Highly efficient gas boilers
  • ENERGY STAR® hardwired fluorescent lighting and appliances
  • Durable and healthy materials
  • Winner: US Green Building Council as the 2010 LEED for Homes Project of the Year
  • Winner: Merit Award, 2011 EcoHome Design Awards

The Student Village project features an extensive bioswale and sediment pond system. A landscape redesign transformed the site into a permaculture teaching site with edible and medicinal plants. The buildings have highly efficient gas boilers, ENERGY STAR hardwired fluorescent lighting and ENERGY STAR appliances. Durable and healthy materials were a priority, too. O’Brien360 completed a LEED for Homes Project Analysis and Preliminary Rating to help the project team identify potential challenges and opportunities.

We facilitated a pre-construction meeting and provided ongoing technical assistance and onsite verification including air sealing inspections, insulation inspections, preliminary blower door testing, final blower door testing, and exhaust fan testing. We worked closely with Schuchart Construction and helped build capacity among key subcontractors throughout the project.
