BACK TO PROJECTS

Bringing new life to an existing building, the renovation of this Regional Transportation Headquarters aims to reinvigorate a Shoreline mainstay

  • Reduction of single-occupant vehicle travel through safe pedestrian access to local services
  • Ample nearby public transportation and covered bicycle storage and amenities
  • Reuse of over 90% of the building envelope and structure to reduce embodied carbon impacts from virgin materials
  • Prioritization of healthy interior materials where replacement was required
  • Construction Waste reduction – 398 tons of construction waste diverted from the landfill through job site recycling
  • The renovated building will save over 25% in energy costs compared to similar buildings

As part of its commitment to sustainability, the Washington State Department of Transportation undertook a complete renovation of its 170,000 sq. ft. Regional Headquarters building (RHQ) located in the city of Shoreline. The ambitious upgrades to this modern, aesthetically pleasing LEED® NC, v4 Silver certified building provide a healthy working environment for staff, which occupied the space throughout construction. O’Brien360 provided LEED project

management throughout design and construction and assisted with the state LEED reporting process, supporting the State’s High-Performance Green Building requirements for capital projects.
