The new 26,300 sq. ft. Edmonds Waterfront Center (EWC) replaced an aging 55-year-old senior center with a vibrant new facility for the whole community. The 2-story building includes community gathering spaces, multipurpose rooms, a commercial kitchen, administrative offices, clinic space, and a coffee shop. O’Brien360 provided LEED project management, energy modeling, and commissioning services to the project, which the EWC Board voted to go “all green.” With a 119 kW solar array, the project has been able to offset over 53% of its annual energy usage. The facility finished construction and received its occupancy certificate in early January 2021. While the building remains closed due to COVID-19 concerns, a virtual tour of the space is available online.
